Florence views from Piazzale Michelangelo // Florence, Italy

Description

I visited Florence by myself in April 2016 and trekked up to Piazzale Michelangelo at sunset for the commanding views of the city. On this trip in December 2018 with my partner and friends I was able to visit Piazzale Michelangelo again. This is panorama shows the River Arno sweeping through Florence and spanned by the Ponte Vecchio, a medieval stone arch bridge built by the Romans sometime about 990 AD. The taller structures are the spire of Palazzo Vecchio (left) and the baptistry, bell tower and dome of Florence Cathedral. The burnt orange terracotta rooftops sure do stand out too.
