Neuschwanstein Castle // Schwangau, Germany

Description

Neuschwanstein Castle, quite possibly the most famous castle in the world, so much so that it was the inspiration behind Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle, you know the one you see at the start of any Walt Disney Pictures movie. The castle was built in the 19th Century by Ludwig II of Bavaria, back when Bavaria was a Kingdom, it was intended as a home for the king, until he died in 1886. It has been open to the public almost ever since. This photograph, like almost all others you would have seen of Neuschwanstein, was taken Marienbrucke or Queen Mary's bridge. The bridge is a short walk from the base of the castle, and as you can see it is well worth it.
